Working together with embroidery student Freyja Sjöfn, Luke Shaw’s work for his Menswear final collection developed a look that grew from traditional and recognisable garments into abstract experiments.

Hoon Chung’s footwear collection features non-glue construction, new rapid prototyped soft materials and a modular component structure, all neatly slotted together into these fantastic shoes.

Francesca Smith's collection is inspired by the mourning practices of Victorian Britain. It concentrates on exploring classic designs from the Victorian era, then reinventing them using modern technologies using digital design and rapid prototyping manufacturing processes. She explores a variety of materials from woods to fabrics, metals and rapid prototyped plastics. These components are partnered with soft textiles and human hair, ensuring that this collection embodies Francesca Smith's design style.

Arena Page's MA collection is inspired by the single sided surface (The Mobius Strip) through the study of Topology. Exploring the region between art and mathematics and finding beauty in geometry. Complex, minimal surfaces were generated using Rhino, a 3D Nurbs modelling program to which a ‘flattening’ process was applied. The flat 2D patterns transferred to paper and fabric for further manipulation and experimentation in relation to the body. This design process changes the design methodology; going from 3D surface to 2D and then back to 3D. Arena worked with David Sweeney in the Fashion Digital Studio to realise her initial ideas, the results can be seen in the "Sweeney" Jacket as part of her final collection.

This month saw the official launch of the Designer-Manufacturer Innovation Support Centre (DISC) at London College of Fashion’s Mare Street Campus. The launch event was attended by Harold Tillman, Chairman of the British Fashion Council, representatives of the EU Commission for Enterprise and Industry and the Minister for Hackney Regeneration and the 2012 Olympics.

MA Footwear student Ross Barber shows new 3D printed components combined with traditional shoe making craft at the LCF MA graduate exhibition. Previewing carbon black 'soft-touch' flexible material with sponsorship from EOS, and utilising optimised material structures from Within Labs - which create the organic sole and overshoe structures by generating honeycomb like structures in a software package normally used for medical implants and aerospace engineering applications. The shoes were also on the catwalk at the V&A graduate show, proving that the technology is now going beyond just prototyping and into the realms of manufacturing real product solutions.

As part of the forthcoming seminar series highlighting the merging expertise of some of the most renowned UK creative experts and Lebanese designers, Philip Delamore from the Fashion Digital Studio will be talking about the studio’s influence on the agendas of education, research, and commerce.

Block Party: Contemporary Craft Inspired by the Art of the Tailor, is a new national touring exhibition from the Crafts Council that previewed at designjunction, Victoria House, Southampton Row, 22nd – 25th September, as part of the London Design Festival.

Simon’s research is concerned with generating new ideas for fashion design. His projects frequently employ a degree of interactivity and encourage the role of an audience in determining, in part, the course or outcome of a fashion product or experience.

The Fashion Digital Studio have again collaborated with fashion designer Gareth Pugh, this time to realise Gareth's distinctive design for the launch of ABSOLUT MODE EDITION.

'Beyond the Valley' invites you to sit back, relax and enjoy a unique interactive experience in a specially designed and upholstered installation within the British Galleries. Here, using an iPad, you can delve into the creative’s mind and interact with the surrounding print. The application lets you change the patterns at a touch: add gold leafing, create new shapes and living creatures, or interact with an engraved forest. Visitors can share their creations on social media sites and display their masterpiece as the wallpaper on their iPad or iPhone.

In the forthcoming publication by Thames & Hudson “High Heels: Fashion, Femininity and Seduction” due Sept 2011, Philip Delamore describes the technological developments behind the extreme contours of recent shoe design. Including the work of emerging designers Kerrie Luft, Chau Har Lee and Marloes Ten Bhomer, and with an introduction by Ivan Vartanian and essays by Valerie Steele and Tim Blanks. High Heels is a visual odyssey through the powerful ideas of beauty, danger and seduction that the high heel evokes.

London College of Fashion MA graduate Kerrie Luft wins the the Fashion Fringe Accessories prize with her cutting edge designs. Kerrie produced the 3D designs for her range of heels utilising the expertise of the Fashion Digital Studio, and with sponsorship from E.O.S. - specialists in direct metal laser sintering

The Fashion Digital Studio used Microsoft’s Kinect to create a virtual make up kit for celebrated make up artist Alex Box. The gesture based real time painting application is used as the finale to her MAC Masterclasses in London, NY, LA and Miami. Applying colour with a sweep of the hand to a 3D scan of the models face.

VIOLENCE KNOWLEDGE EMOTION Neuromance is a capsule collection of Industrial, and mediEVIL references. Thrash, Death + Black metal imagery. Digital printed silk detailing and embroidered patches, feature on L/S tees, Melton wool Tailoring, zip up hooded tops and cropped nappa leather bombers. The range also includes assault vests with neoprene pocket details, graphic tees with CGI blood and chrome with glow in the dark screen prints.

Constantly defying compartmentalisation, Hussein Chalayan is a true cross-disciplinary artist whose work is never hampered by fixed expectations of genre or discipline. Far from it, if the medium fits the philosophy then he runs with it, sparking an endlessly innovative convergence of fashion, performance, installation, technology, anthropology, and more into the trademark Chalayan cultural experience. From 8 September, London’s Lisson Gallery hosts one such experience with 'I Am Sad Leyla' (Üzgünüm Leyla), a multi-room installation deploying audio, video, sculpture and fashion in its deconstruction of Chalayan’s native Turkish musical tradition.
